WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY A HOME?
I have been asked this question many times during my thirty three years in the real estate business, and the answer seems to change every year.
There was a time in the Tri-County area (Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties) when our business was much more seasonal than it is today. It is still true that more homes sell between March and August every year; however we have found that homes tend to sell year-round more than ever.
There are several reasons for this. First, we have the best interest rates we have had in years -- this has increased sales volume. Second, the dwindling supply of homes on the market, even during the summer months, has meant that people are searching for a home during the holidays, too. Third, we have major companies and the Air Force transferring families here to our area at all times of the year. Fourth, sellers are continuously building or buying homes now, requiring a sale on their present home to complete their new home transaction.
